We’re excited to share that our partner, Raul Gastesi, was featured in a Fortune article exploring the growing housing challenges tied to changes in Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The piece was also picked up by AOL, MSN, and Newsbreak, reaching a national audience of millions.
The Heart of the Issue
In South Florida, especially in communities like Doral, many families are facing uncertainty as TPS protections begin to expire. For landlords, that uncertainty translates into tough questions about risk, responsibility, and compliance with fair housing laws.
Raul offered a clear-eyed perspective on both sides of the issue. He explained that if TPS is revoked, tenants may lose the ability to work and pay rent—creating a real financial strain for property owners. At the same time, landlords can’t simply refuse to rent to immigrants or TPS holders without violating civil rights laws.
“I see the immigrant’s position, but I also see the landlord’s position. None of it is easy,” Raul told Fortune
